Weihai, Xinhua News — A science and technology delegation from Chungcheongbuk-do visited Weihai, Shandong Province, China, to expand Korea–China cooperation in the field of science and technology.
On September 16, an Investment Promotion Seminar in the Next-Generation Information Technology Sector was held at the Weihai Economic and Technological Development Zone as part of the 8th Korea–China Innovation Conference.
The event brought together representatives from 11 IT companies from Chungbuk and more than 20 companies from Weihai to discuss opportunities for technological collaboration.
Deputy Director Li Zhonglei of the Weihai Science and Technology Innovation Development Center and Deputy Director Liu Huiting of the Economic and Technological Development Zone attended the seminar and congratulated the signing of a technology cooperation agreement between the Chungbuk Institute of Science and Technology Innovation and the Weihai Science and Technology Service Association.

Technological Exchange and Cooperation between Chinese and Korean Companies (Projects)
President Ko Geun-seok of the Chungbuk Institute of Science and Technology Innovation personally led a delegation of 22 science and technology representatives on a visit to Weihai.
From September 15 to 17, the delegation toured local companies such as the Weihai Zhuhui Industrial Complex, Xinbeiyang Information Technology, and Tianli Power, exploring opportunities for technological and industrial cooperation.
President Ko introduced eleven of Chungbuk’s “leading digital enterprises” specializing in artificial intelligence, software, biotechnology, and smart solutions, and expressed his expectations by stating, “Through this seminar, we hope that companies from both countries will collaborate in diverse areas including joint R&D, investment, and market development.”
The event was co-hosted by the Weihai Science and Technology Bureau and the Administrative Committee of the Weihai Economic and Technological Development Zone, and organized by the Weihai Science and Technology Service Association and other related bodies.
During the seminar, Korean companies such as DL Information Technology Co., Ltd. and RAON Solution Co., Ltd. showcased advanced technologies including semiconductor testing equipment and smart design and operation software. Local companies in Weihai also presented their own technological capabilities, including artificial intelligence, facilitating active exchanges between Korean and Chinese firms.
As a result, the two sides identified seven potential cooperation initiatives.
At the Science and Technology Exchange Meeting, representatives from the Chungbuk Institute of Science and Technology Innovation and the Weihai Innovation Cooperation Center engaged in in-depth discussions.
Deputy Director Li Zhonglei stated that Weihai would work to establish a mechanism for science and technology exchange with Chungbuk and jointly promote the commercialization of technologies, thereby deepening Korea–China cooperation in science and technology.
This event is expected to serve as an important platform for strengthening cooperation between Korea and China in the field of next-generation information technology. Building on the Korea–China Innovation Conference, both sides plan to promote the commercialization of technologies centered around the Weihai Innovation Cooperation Center and usher in a new era of regional scientific and technological collaboration.
